**We are currently looking to find candidates interested in work for the 2025 season. Hiring will begin early in the 2025 year with work starting in the Spring and Summer of 2025.**FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Reports To: Regional Manager
Job Type: On-Call, Variable-Time
Compensation: $22 - $35 per hour, based on relevant experience
Field work for this position will occur primarily in Utah, with some potential to work in Idaho and Wyoming as well.

JOB SUMMARY: The On-Call Biologist will perform biological surveys and monitoring in the field on an as-needed basis. Some desktop responsibilities may be incorporated into the position depending on needs, but the position is mostly field based.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
- Perform special status plant and wildlife surveys, nesting bird surveys, and habitat assessments
- Biological monitoring during construction activities to ensure resource protection measures are being implemented
- Work will primarily be field based; successful applicants should be capable of working long days in the field throughout the year, including single- and multi-day assignments
- Botanical surveys for qualified applicants (botanical experience not required, but is a plus)
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright's and Eocene Environmental Group'sculture of safety and employee ownership
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings

JOB REQUIREMENTS:- B.S. degree in biology, ecology, natural resources, and/or a closely related discipline
- Strong knowledge of U.S. flora and fauna
- Minimum of 3 months previous experience conducting nesting bird and/or special status wildlife surveys
- Ability to perform work duties independently and efficiently with short deadlines
- Highly organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy
- Ability to interact and coordinate with state, federal, and tribal agencies
- Proficiency with standard field equipment and technology
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:- Ability to identify Southwestern bird species by sight and sound
- Ability to identify Southwestern reptile and amphibian species
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to perform field and desktop work independently
- Good communication skills, strong writing and editing skills
- Familiarity with typical utility operations and maintenance activities
- Familiarity with basic use of ESRI GIS applications (including desktop, ArcGIS, FieldMaps, Survey123, etc.)
- Excellent navigation skills and good driving record
- Experience driving a four-wheel drive vehicle off-road or in rough terrain
- Experience in construction monitoring and surveying for nesting birds is a plus
- Botanical survey experience and familiarity using a dichotomous key to identify plant species is a plus
- Experience with wetland and stream delineations a plus
- Experience working around heavy machinery and communicating with construction crews a plus
